Top 5 Secrets to IGTV + 20 Video Ideas
Our client was known locally as a therapist and a humanitarian. She wanted to make the pivot into being seen as a speaker and new author. She appeared on a few podcasts interviews and in-person speaking gigs. She also had a couple of IGTVs and Facebook lives but were one or two episodes a year.
Those videos had good engagement, but she left them hanging. It's like she told her audience she was coming back and got lost. We created an IGTV strategy for her. The goal was for speaking and podcasts interviews to start coming to her instead of us chasing them. Within a few months, it really started paying off. She had an awesome book launch party, readers of her book are DMing her daily, she's attracting more speaking opportunities, and getting booked to speak at conferences.

Warm-up with Stories
Never done an IGTV before? No problem. Warm-up with IG stories. It's great practice on camera and it builds an instant connection with your audience. The more IG Stories you do the more the better you become. Then when you make a minute long IGTV instead of a 15 second IG Story it won't seem so daunting. You'll feel so comfortable that your personality and expressions will come through.
Short and Sweet
IGTV is different from YouTube or Facebook Live in that shorter content does better. Keep your story or tip to 1-5 minutes. So you grab the viewer's attention and hold onto it just long enough for them to want to learn more. The first few times you do an IGTV you may go off on tangents. It's okay. You can also reel it back in as long as the full video is less than 5 minutes.*Having a video more than minute long lets you show a preview on your feed so more people will see it. You can learn more about that in the guide*
Talking Points
Interacting with your followers will lead you to your talking points. I'm not asking you to DM all of them about their struggles related to your offer.
I'm asking you to start asking questions in your stories and feed captions. You can do this with fun polls or stickers. People love these features on IG Stories so you won't be intruding.
You can also just hint at an upcoming IGTV episode like this: "I've been asked about ____. I'm thinking about doing an upcoming IGTV about ____ or ____. Which one do you want to learn more about?" The more comfortable they are with you the more questions they'll ask :)
Talk to Your Bestie
No matter how many followers you have or IG Stories viewers remember you're only talking to one person at a time. It helps if you pretend you're talking to your bestie. That way it's very casual and relaxed. When you talk to your bestie it's very informal. They ask a question. You may give a little background. You may not. Either way, you quickly get to the point and keep going with the conversation. Exact same thing on IGTV!Audience: Ask a question beforehand. You: Answer with a tip, story or both. Ask a followup question in the caption or end with a CTA in the video.Audience: Response with an ah-ha moment and/or follow-up question.Don't say these to your follower (bestie):
you guys
ya'll
all of you
you all
subscribers

My Experience With IGTV
I started using IGTV for my own business a few months ago. It has made such a difference in the quality of leads and potential clients that contact me. I used to get a few leads a month. Now, I get leads every week. Especially, on the days I do IGTV episodes. I get 2 to 3 qualified leads every time I post an IGTV episode.Your TurnHow do you plan to use IGTV or your business?
