5 Things You Need to Sell Digital Products

Digital products have supplemented income for me and my family. If you’ve suddenly found yourself in a tough financial spot with the craziness going on you may want to consider digital products.

Today, I’m sharing with you 5 things you need to sell digital products.

  1. Instructions

You can offer the instructions as a step-by-step PDF, video tutorials, or both. That’s what I do, because people learn different ways. This reduces the amount of questions and troubleshooting emails. The instructions do the support for you :)

    2. Product Listing

You’ll need to take your time making the product listing. This goes for Etsy, Creative Market, and your own site. You want to be as detailed as possible. In the description you need to include:

    • Keywords of what the product is

    • What’s Included

    • What happens after purchase/how the files are delivered

  • What software they need (ie. Photoshop, Canva, Adobe Reader)

  • Return Policy

  • What’s not included

  • Any usage restrictions

3. Product Photos

Even though no physical product is sent to them, customers still want to see something. Product Photos entice buyers to learn more. You can’t have do this step!

Great Mock-ups will be your best friend! Videos showing the digital product in use are even better. Mock-ups on tablets, phones, and computers are best. For printables and wall art you’ll want to use some life-like scenes to show what the prints will look like. You can find great Photoshop mock-up templates on Creative Market and Etsy.

4. Frequently Asked Questions - FAQs

As detailed as your product description is there will still be questions. Be proactive about the Frequently asked questions by adding them to your shop and listings. Etsy provides a space for you to include FAQs in your shop details. Creative Market includes an FAQ section in each listing. You can also add FAQ as an image in your listing photo gallery. People get fixated on the pictures and may not read the fine print.

5. Promote The Heck Out of Your Digital Product

Yes, Creative Market and Etsy have millions of customers. They also have millions of shops and products. You’ll have to use outside of Etsy promotions to drive traffic to your shop! You can organically promote your shop with social media, blogging, and YouTube. You can also promote your shop with ads. Already have an email list? Great! Promote your digital products to them!

I’ve sold digital products on Etsy and Creative Market. Now, I’m selling items on Etsy and my site only. Where are you going to offer your products?

Thanks for stopping by!
